Because the right environment can change everything
I grew up in inner-city London, the son of first-generation working-class immigrants from Africa and Europe and my early life experiences have shaped my commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.
In 1998, when a social worker friend highlighted to me the lack of decent housing for families in local authority care, I founded QARA (Quality Assured Refugee Accommodation). Our mission was to provide safe and comfortable homes in a sector where they could be hard to find.
Over time, we recognised a growing need to provide tailored support for young people. I established Housing Plus Limited in 2001, to offer high-quality supported accommodation for looked-after 16-17 year olds transitioning from full-time care to independent living. We’ve grown from strength to strength, continually reflecting, learning and improving our offer and we were delighted in January 2025 to achieve Ofsted registration.
Today, I lead a diverse, capable and enthusiastic team to inspire, engage and empower the many young people Housing Plus supports.
