This holiday season, our young people enjoyed a series of vibrant celebrations, full of joy, creativity, and festive cheer.
At the Barnet Festive Dinner, they savoured a delicious meal while socialising with friends, soaking up the lively atmosphere. In Central London, they explored the dazzling Christmas lights, taking photos, enjoying music performances, artificial snow on Oxford Street, and marvelling at Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Santas at Trafalgar Square.
On Christmas Day, a significant effort was made to ensure every young person could attend the White City Christmas Dinner Celebration Party at West Youth Zone, despite last-minute changes from other providers. The day was packed with fun activities – rock climbing, football, table tennis, UNO, and boxing – alongside a festive lunch.
Each young person received thoughtful gifts, including food hampers, toiletries, and novels, and captured memories with photographs and videos. This inclusive approach ensured no one missed out on a magical holiday experience.
At the HP Winter Celebration, young people enjoyed a Mediterranean-inspired brunch, with homemade flatbread, a Middle Eastern charcuterie board, scrambled eggs, and Hanukkah doughnuts. They also received gifts as they fully embraced the festive spirit.
Finally, HP revived the popular Mocktail Bar at the Young Roots Christmas party – a festive highlight and a valuable employability opportunity. As always, the young people played an active role in preparing ingredients, mixing and presenting the drinks, and serving customers. More than just festive fun, the HP Mocktail Bar provides hands-on experience relevant to hospitality and service industries, including communication, teamwork and time management.
The bar team learned to engage confidently with guests, work collaboratively under pressure, and take responsibility for delivering a smooth and professional service. All skills that build confidence and inform future education and employment pathways. Most importantly, young people felt a genuine sense of achievement in contributing to a successful community celebration.
