Creative Journeys: Theatre and Design

With Rae Smith

Award-winning theatre designer Rae Smith, most famous for WarHorse, shared her work and creative process during a special exhibition and workshop for Housing Plus. Our young people explored her designs, asked questions, and gained new perspectives on art, storytelling and careers in theatre, film and TV.

At the Kiln Theatre

HP supported young people to attend the Kiln Theatre’s Tickets, Tours and Teas event, which included a backstage tour, conversations with lighting and sound technicians, designers, and actors, and the chance to attend a live performance. The day provided a rare insight into the teamwork and creativity behind the scenes of professional theatre.

Afterwards, the young people watched The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs from the front row. They all immensely enjoyed the show, which sparked interesting conversations around sexuality, identity, and representation.
