Against Cultural Poverty
Challenging hidden barriers to opportunity
More than a place to stay. A place to grow.
This initiative goes beyond the basics – opening doors to culture, confidence, and long-term opportunity. From tackling cultural poverty to supporting young people into adulthood, this project is designed to meet needs that often go unseen.
Why it matters
Young people growing up in care, or arriving in the UK as asylum seekers, often miss out on the everyday enrichment others take for granted – visiting museums, attending performances, feeling at ease in unfamiliar social settings. This gap in cultural confidence can affect their long-term aspirations, choices and self-belief.
“We already excel at providing the fundamentals – academically, emotionally, practically and through enrichment,” says Chris Ampofo, our Founder and Director. “But success in life often hinges on something more invisible: cultural capital. And that’s where we plan to challenge inequality.”
Cultural Curiosity
We inspire curiosity and confidence through social, educational, sporting and cultural activities.
Partnership and participation
We work with arts organisations, educational institutions and local partners to create more equitable access to life-shaping opportunities.
High standards throughout
From guided public transport routes to first-time outings, we support young people to feel safe navigating unfamiliar environments.
Social confidence and expression
We run workshops and discussions that develop soft skills – public speaking, group communication and cultural awareness.
How you can support
Whether you’re an organisation, cultural venue, funder or individual who believes in expanding access, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can help young people build not only stability – but a deeper sense of belonging in the world.
